It looks like you go straight down the center of Michigan, and if so right through the little town I grew up in: Indian River (at the time population 100!)
US #27 is the road through the middle of town. Town is now out of control: they installed one stoplight!My brother retired there, and would be more than happy to host you. Bob DeVore
